3.0.1 Released at 21st of November 2015

2.2.0 Released at 25 of July 2015

Its back in the iTunes Store, the full and the free version 2.0.1 are released!

After some discussions with the Apple review team and many changes to the App, Cloud Opener is finally released.

It seemed that I was focusing the marketing too much on iCloud Drive. Because Cloud Opener now focusses on other Cloud services also, that problem is also solved.

Enjoy the new version of Cloud Opener.

Previous pending review

“In short, Cloud Opener can download content from iCloud Drive, it cannot upload content to iCloud Drive unless the content was created in the app itself.

Apple says this use would violate 2.23 — ‘Apps must follow the iOS Data Storage Guidelines or they will be rejected’ —

Very odd, that page says nothing about iCloud Drive or appropriate uses for iCloud Drive.”

Content “created in the app itself” applies to version 2.0.0 (It can create text and images).

Cloud Opener is working this way for its own created documents.

Apple’s weird iCloud Drive rule cripples many apps.

Apple can make any App Store policies it wants.

The issue is that nobody (except perhaps someone at Apple) seems to understand what the rules are regarding what apps can and can’t do. Maybe it’s time for a clear rewrite of the App Store guidelines, or even a blog where Apple can communicate with its developers about where it’s drawing the rules for new technologies such as iCloud Drive?

Right now when supporting new Apple features there is a high risk of rejection. That’s bad for Apple, the platform, and the users, too.

There are good people working at Apple who will read this, be frustrated, and hopefully try to fix the situation.

To be continued...
